The Hospitality Team
First Voice Team
The First Voice volunteers take daytime shifts working in the church lobby Tuesday – Friday when the church offices are open. Their duties include welcoming visitors, answering the telephone and working in the bookstore. Volunteers choose from several scheduling options which can accommodate people who do not wish at this time to work every week. The shifts are mornings 9:30 - 1:00 and afternoons 1:00 – 4:30.
One of the most important areas of volunteer service in the church is ushering. Ushers are "public relations" persons during the ministry service. Ushers are sometimes the only Unity contact a visitor may make. The specific duties involved allow for the orderly and smooth flow of the Sunday Service. Meetings are the last Sunday of every other month in the sanctuary immediately following the service.
The Prayer Chaplains are given the training to hold sacred space with congregants, lovingly listen, hold what is told them in strictest confidence and pray with them.
Twilight Brigade - Compassion in Action
The Twilight Brigade is a national nonprofit organization recognized by the US presidents, the UN, and Oprah Winfrey for its outstanding contribution to our country's dying. Since 1997, the Twilight Brigade has trained over 6,000 people to provide companionship, comfort and support to the dying and their families. Once trained, many are inspired to volunteer and visit patients at VA's, hospitals, nursing homes, hospices and assisted living communities across the US. There is a 20 hour weekend intensive workshop and people will learn how to provide comfort and support to the dying and their family members.
Youth and Family Ministry
We believe that each child is a unique expression of God's love and light, created in the image and likeness of God. It is our intention to provide a positive, safe and loving space where each child can connect with peers while learning Unity principles. Sundays 10:45 - 12:00. All children must be signed in at 10:45 and signed out immediately following the service. There are several ways to volunteer in YFM such as: Holding program participants in prayer, teaching, assisting, purchasing supplies and healthy snacks, or sharing your talent. These members rotate so that each serve for only one Sunday each month.
